And the time is upon us, once again, to crown America's Next Drag Superstar as Season 5 of 'RuPaul's Drag Race comes to a close.
Although the final episode was this past Monday night, it is still a guessing game at this point.
Who will win Season 5 of 'RuPaul's Drag Race'?
Well, for you, me, and the show's collective audience, we will have to wait until this Monday, April 6th, for the results.
Our three finalists are on pins and needles (Sharon's needles) for this week's upcoming reunion special where the winner is crowned.
Our final 3, photographed above at last night's Reunion Special Taping, are Alaska Thunderfuck (Left), Jinxx Monsoon (Middle), and Roxxy Andrews (Right).
Buzzfeed.com reports:
"As expected, after Jinkx Monsoon, Roxxy Andrews, and Alaska Thunderfuck lip synched for the crown on last...episode of Ru Paul's Drag Race, Ru announced that she wanted the internet's help in making a decision. She has a point. Season 5 has yet to define a clear winner.
"Jinkx is incredibly endearing, has great comedic timing and knows how to bring the drama, but her makeup doesn't always hit the mark. Alaska is also very likable and arguably one of the funniest queens in the show's history, and it's impressive that she's succeeded in stepping out from Sharon Needles' shadow.
"And then there's Roxxy Andrews. Her double-wig stunt during the "Whip My Hair" lip sync was amazing. She consistently puts together amazing looks for the runway. And like the other two queens, Roxxy has won two challenges. However, her "strategy" of trying to psyche out Jinkx by being as mean as possible seems to be backfiring. The pageant queen's complaints last night, after performing poorly in the courtroom skit, that comedy was somehow an insult to drag were not only off-putting, but annoying as well. Reality television can bring out the beast in all of us, but Roxxy isn't doing herself any favors.
"And the internet is none too pleased.
Last night, Logo asked fans on Tumblr to like and reblog the images of their favorite queens. As one fan has pointed out, Jinkx = 5912 likes/reblogs, Alaska = 4480 likes/reblogs, and Roxxy = 361 likes/reblogs."

The new show format - as of Season 4 - is to crown the winner during the Reunion Special, which is filmed after the show has aired. The final decision as to the winner is always left up to RuPaul herself, but now she takes the fans' and audience input. Social media plays a part in this, but I think Ru makes her decision before the fans. The audience input, however, helps save the show from crowning a villain or fan-hated contestant.
Well, seeing that Roxxy Andrews' win is borderline impossible at this point, she is still a finalist. This is often the case with each season's resident mean girl. Roxxy gives great face, wardrobe, and poise, but she falls flat when it comes to personality and the show has declared her this season's Bitch. She can tweet apologies and blame editing, but the TV screens we're watching the show on beg to differ.
So, it's pretty clear to myself and much of the viewing public that the crown is going to be a toss up between Jinxx Monsoon and Alaska Thunderfuck.
Jinxx is great and has really come out of this show as a star. I would be more than happy if Jinxx won, but she doesn't have my vote.
Don't cry about it Jinxx...
That being said, I'm crossing my fingers that Ru crowns Alaska Thunderfuck. I've been watching this show religiously since the first episode and have never loved a queen as much as I love Alaska.
Alaska came to the show in the shadow of her life-partner/girlfriend/boyfriend, Season 4 Winner Sharon Needles.
Alaska showed up to the show, ready to escape Sharon's shadow.
I was not sure that this Queen would be able to hold a candle to Sharon, who had dominated Season 4. Pretty quickly, though, I discovered a TRUE LOVE for Alaska's own brand of irreverent humor.
Alaska's sound bites and diary room interviews slayed the rest of the competition, in my eyes. She threw shade like no other queen this season, while still escaping the title of Bitch (which Roxxy claimed deservedly).
Alaska did well throughout the challenges and found a way to escape ever having been in the bottom 2 - all season long.
Alaska also introduced us to the fine gem, known as 'Lil' Poundcake':
This upcoming Monday, when Ru crowns America's Next Drag Superstar', here's to hoping it's Alaska Thunderfuck.
